Message from Sam Horn of Bob Jones University

May 15, 2018 By Mark Ward

The Bible Faculty Summit is dedicated to promoting scholarship in service of the church. And one of our core commitments at BJU Seminary is to prepare men and women to serve the church. That’s one reason I am personally so excited that Bob Jones University and BJU Seminary are hosting this year’s BFS. There is a telos to our activity, an end in view—we are doing this in order to build up and serve the church.

I hope you’ll make plans to attend this year’s Summit. After looking at the schedule of papers to be presented, I’m convinced this is an event you won’t want to miss. At BJU you will be our honored guest, and we don’t want your place to be empty.

Registration for our conference will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at our Welcome Center on Tuesday, July 31. Dinner will be served at 5:15 p.m. in the Kalmbach Room of the Dining Common, and our first paper will be read at 6:15 p.m. in the Seminary building. Our final paper will be read at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, with an 11:30 a.m. lunch provided as our final conference event.

If you have any questions for us as a host institution, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Kevin Oberlin, Associate Dean of the School of Religion. We’ll be glad to help in any way we can!

Warmly,

Sam Horn

Paper Approvals

May 1, 2018 By Mark Ward

The paper proposal period for the 2018 Bible Faculty Summit has ended. There were nearly three times as many proposals as there were slots for them.

The BFS committee is busy responding to this excellent problem and needs extra time to deliberate beyond the promised May 1 notification day. We are attempting to include as many papers as possible while still choosing the best quality submissions. We also want to preserve some opportunity for PhD students. Please pray for the committee to have wisdom. We hope to send out responses to all proposals within two weeks.

If you have submitted a paper proposal but have not registered for the conference, please register at the link below.

  • This year we will have a publications committee working to help the best papers get published.
