Gentlemen:
Greetings from Minneapolis. I am delighted to tell you that Central Seminary is pleased to invite our sister schools to come to Minneapolis August 5-6, for the Bible Faculty Summit. In discussion with the steering committee, we have chosen to hold the Summit on Wednesday and Thursday only for 2015. This will allow Tuesday and Friday to be travel days for those coming a distance.
We will plan to have twelve papers presented, six per day. The theme for this summit is The Christian and Cultural Engagement. There is a lot of talk in today’s world, particularly among evangelicals, about the scope and limitations of our responsibility for cultural engagement. Some of us remember the old days of the Moral Majority. What should be our response to issues like homosexuality? Gay marriage? Open marriage? Of course, we all realize that these are sin issues. How should the Church respond in this sinful world? We have had some good papers the last several years and we anticipate more this year. We hope some will write on the theme of the conference, but papers are always welcome outside the theme. Plan early to submit a paper proposal. Please consider this a formal call for papers; click here to submit proposals.

I am also happy to announce that there will be no cost for those coming beyond travel costs. Central Seminary will be putting up invited faculty from sister institutions in an area hotel where breakfast will be provided. Lunch and dinner will be served at the seminary during the two days of the Summit. There was a discussion of charging up to $100 for those attending. This will not be necessary for the 2015 meeting held at Central. We also want to extend an invitation to post-graduate students and pastors with earned academic doctorates who may wish to participate. We will happily arrange for these to be billeted in homes of members of Fourth Baptist Church if necessary. Unfortunately we will only be able to offer hotel accommodations for the faculty members in attendance.
Finally, I am also pleased to announce that we have a website now for the Bible Faculty Summit maintained by Dr. Mark L. Ward, Jr., part of the Biblical Worldview Team at BJU Press. Our intention is to post the papers for the next Summit on the website behind a password-protected portal for access only by the participants in the Summit. Some papers will be posted on the site once the authors have granted permission for them to appear. The steering committee will select quality representative to post.
